The research of Sebastià Monserrat has been focused on data analysis, atmospheric and oceanography, in the coastal oceanography field, and specially in the study of sea level amplifications inside small bays and ports due to atmospheric forcing: meteotsunamis. At the last years he has also studied about hydrodynamics variability in the occidental Mediterranean sea and its relation with fluctuations of the abundance of certain fishing stocks.
At the University Sebastià Monserrat teaches Experimental Physics II and Physical Oceanography. Since 2012 he is vice-dean of the Faculty of Sciences and the head of the Physics Degree Studies at UIB.
