Posdoctoral stays at the National Oceanography Centre of Southampton, UK (2005-06) and the University of La Rochelle, France (2007-08).

The research of Marta Marcos is mostly focused on sea level variability, ranging from the high frequency time scales (meteorological tsunamis and extreme sea level episodes) to the long term changes and their relation with climate. Her work is based on the analysis of observations as well as the outputs of numerical models. She is also interested in hydrographic variability in the western Mediterranean and its relationship with biological communities.

Marta Marcos teaches Physical Oceanography both at the Degree and Master level.
