Francisco M. Calafat

Assistant Lecturer of Physics of the Earth at the University of the Balearic Islands.

ORCID Code: 0000-0002-7474-135X

Education:

Degree in Physics (2002), University of the Balearic Islands.

Ph.D. in Physics (2010), University of the Balearic Islands.

Marie Curie Postdoctoral Research Fellow at NERC (Southampton, UK) and the University of South Florida (USA).

Senior Researcher at NERC (Liverpool, UK).

Francisco Calafat’s research is organised around three core themes, namely the physics of sea-level changes, the influence of climate change on extreme weather and the transport of heat and freshwater by ocean circulation. To study these topics, he analyses observations from a variety of in-situ and space-based instruments as well as data from numerical climate models using theory and cutting-edge statistical methods.

Francisco Calafat teaches courses in oceanography and general physics.
